Autumn Newsletter

So much to share with you since May!

After an extremely busy summer I am literally bursting to let you know our latest news. It’s been a while since we had a newsletter, so buckle in and find out about what’s been going on in salon and with your favourite stylists. We’ve so much to tell you!

Let's start with me. I believe in constant development and that means for me as well as the team! You have to walk the walk ladies.

Our apprentice scheme is very important to us for bringing in new talent, not just the salon, but to the industry. With this in mind, I have started an Apprentice Assessors course. This means I'm going to college once a month and when qualified, I can formally assess my apprentices during their training.

We want to continue to be your award winning salon and that means continuing our training and developing and furthering our education. We do this in the salon as well as at the Wella Academy and Vidall Sasson Academy in London, the Partners 4 Training In Uckfield and with guest trainers that come into salon.

As well as being a stylist, I’m a businesswoman, making things happen, crunching the numbers, and ensuring everyone can get the training they need. So, as of January, I'm reducing my days working on the salon floor to Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This is so I can concentrate on developing the business and the team.

Developing and keeping my business as an employed salon team, where all my team get the best training, is at the heart of the salon, and I want to keep it that way.

So, that's me. But so much has been happening to the team too!

Ella had a wonderful time inter-railing in August - beside getting food poisoning, bless her. She is being promoted to Advanced Stylist taking effect from 1st November. Can you believe she has worked for me for 10 years next year? As of January, she will work Monday-Friday one week and the following week Tuesday-Saturday. This will give her more of a work/life balance, working an alternate shift pattern 4 days one week and 5 days the following. Loyalty deserves reward!

This year for Louise has been all about training. She has attended Advance highlighting course and colour correction. This was to enable her to start her Master Colour Expert at the Wella Academy in September. This is one of the highest levels of qualification you can take as a colour stylist. Louise has been rewarded with a promotion to Senior Stylist, taking effect from 1st November. You may not have seen Louise much in September because of her course and a two-week holiday in between all her studying. But she is still here!

Travis is excelling in all areas of his hairdressing abilities. It has been an absolute joy watching his confidence grow. Travis has been promoted to Stylist. He has gone from strength to strength since qualifying in June 2023. Travis started his next qualification, NVQ3, in September at Partners 4 Training. He will be out of the salon once a month on Mondays attending college. Travis is attending a three day Balayage course at the Wella Academy in London in November to develop his skill and technique further. From January, Travis is swapping his day off to a Friday. This is to provide him with a little more work/life balance as he travels to the salon from Redhill.

Cydney achieved her NVQ2 qualification in hairdressing with a high pass in August. She did incredibly well. Cydney attended 8 days at the Wella Academy participating in their Summer School, covering basic cutting and colour techniques. She joined us on the salon floor in September as our Graduate Stylist. She is absolutely excelling and her confidence is growing every day. In October she went back up to the Wella studio for three days to achieve her certification in balayage. She has come back so more knowledgeable and has added more techniques to her bow. Cydney's favourite thing to do is balayage When we all had balayage training in January this year with an independent guest trainer Anneleese Heese, she couldn't believe Cydney's abilities.

Elise is now in year two of her apprenticeship. She is progressing extremely well. She loved going up to London back in June to attend the Wella Academy summer school, a course spread over four weeks which saw her travel to London once a week for colour training. We are stepping up Elise's training this year to get her onto the floor for the summer of 2025.

Mia is our newest member of the team. She is our new apprentice for the next two years. We hope to progress her through to become the next generation of incredible talent that we have achieved so far here at Samantha Elizabeth. Mia is the company's 10th apprentice.

Well, that’s all our news for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed catching up with all that’s happened to us over the past few months.
