We rave about OLAPLEX, A LOT. But we know it's not something that everyone opts for when they come in for a hair appointment because not everyone is sure how it will benefit them and how it works. Quite possibly because of the added cost. We'd quite happily brand it the secret to a healthy and strong barnet. But let's get one thing straight before we go any further, it's NOT a conditioning masque.
What is it then?
It’s one single active ingredient created by two of the world’s leading chemists. They invented a single ingredient chemistry, that is free of silicone and oils is never tested on animals that links broken disulphides bonds in the hair before, during and after chemical service.
I’m so thankful this has been developed, it really is a miracle product for re-building your hair, restoring strength & health. Every time you colour your hair, the bonds within each hair strand break, causing your hair to become weak and distressed.
OLAPLEX combats the breakage by creating a bridge between broken bonds which ends up healing your hair from the inside out. This product is not just for colour, it’s great as a standalone treatment. Our hair becomes weak and distressed with blow drying, straightening and tonging with the day to day elements.
Remember it's not a conditioning product, you will need to use your usual weekly hair masques to achieve the shine.
APPLICATION
Step One : OLAPLEX Number One - Bond Multiplier.
This is applied to the hair by being mixed directly in to the hair colour / bleach that is being applied to your hair. It can also however be used as a standalone treatment – don’t worry it’s not just for colour.
Step Two : OLAPLEX Number Two - Bond Perfector
After the colour / bleach has been rinsed out, the bond Perfector is applied and is left on for at least 20 minutes. This is also applied if you are having a stand alone treatment.
Step Three : OLAPLEX Number Three - Hair Perfector
This is the "take home" part of the treatment. It's recommended to be used once a week by applying to damp hair and leaving on for 10 minutes before washing as normal. If you want to maximise the effects of the hair Perfector, you can leave it on overnight.
YOUR OLAPLEX QUESTIONS
How often should you use the OLAPLEX treatments?
Steps one and two can be used each time you have your hair coloured or come in for your 6/8 week regular cut and blow drys to repair any damage. It’s absolutely a benefit to strengthening our hair. Step three can be used at home on a weekly basis even if you've never used steps one and two before.
Is it ok to use on damaged / split ends?
Yes, absolutely! The unique purpose of OLAPLEX is to re-build your hair from within so it's perfect to address damaged hair problems.
How to use Step 3 at home and how often
It's recommended to be used once a week to maintain healthy, strong hair.
1. Apply to damp hair
2. Leave on for 10 minutes. If you want to maximise the effects of the hair perfector, we advise you leave it on overnight
3. Shampoo and conditioner your hair as normal
4. Dry and style your hair continuing to use your hair care products.
Does my hair have to be coloured to use OLAPLEX?
No, if you don’t colour your hair a standalone treatment will be perfect it will rebuild your hair from blow drying straightening, tongs and the day to day elements.
Are there cheaper alternatives?
There are now 33 re-building treatments out there but there's a reason why OLAPLEX has received such a high level of standard when it comes to rebuilding hair. It's always better to spend a little more when it comes to treatments.
You can buy OLAPLEX Number Three from the salon!
I Hope this helps with your curiosity about OLAPLEX!
